2024 In Review

So much happened over the past year. There were some definite highs and some low lows.

In January I was still a fresh mom of two with a very active toddler and an adorable newborn baby. February and March flew by and while there were some very difficult moments in my personal life I managed to start creating again.

April was a month of learning how strong and capable I truly am. In the face of adversity and challenges I stood my ground and took my responsibilities as a wife and mother head on.

The summer began early in Florida and May, June, July, and August were nothing short of torture. My post partum depression as well as seasonal depression (yes from too much sun) reared its ugly head and for the first time in my life I didn’t see a way out.

God has a funny way of making things work out and through it all I kept creating. Nothing grand or even good but enough to keep my head above water.

In September a 10 year long prayer was finally answered and we were moving out of Florida.

In October we made the move and started our new life as North Carolinians. We love it here, the weather is amazing, the public spaces are awesome, and everyone has been so friendly.

In November we faced another set of challenges but we pushed through and have so far made it to the other side.

December has shown us how truly difficult it is to raise a family without a village but we are holding on. We miss our families dearly and so wish we could all be together.

Reflecting back on the year it’s always shocking how much can happen in such a short span of time. I feel like we have all grown and learnt so many things but at the same time we all still have so much to learn.

My art developed over the year I started experimenting with more mediums and exploring different subject matter. I discovered a love for gouache paints. It is so difficult as an artist when you want to create but have to do so in stolen moments or late at night.

My goal for 2025 is to find an art life balance. I continue to encourage my toddler to participate and while he enjoys it momentarily it’s not nearly long as I would like. In addition I would love to continue to develop my style and showcase in a couple markets.

My favorite piece from 2024 is probably my St-Tropez Home card which I created late in the year. However I would love to go back and continue to explore some of the female / store front subject matter I was experimenting with.

I believe 2025 will be the year my art takes off and I can’t wait to see what’s in store.

Grateful for my husband who supports my passion. Grateful for my two beautiful children who inspire me to do what I love. Thankful for parents and in laws who are always supportive.

I hope everyone has a wonderful New Years Eve celebration!

Happy New Year

Xoxo
